Breed Ribbon Awards

The first competition is within a color class, sex, and type (type for adults being open, champion/premier, or grand champion/grand premier).  Within each color class, for each sex, and for each type, the judge hangs small ribbons; blue for best, red for 2nd, and yellow for 3rd best of that color, sex, and type.  So, within a color class and type, you might see two blue ribbons, one for a female and another for a male of that color class.

The judge then goes back and awards ribbons for best color regardless of sex; black for best, white for 2nd best.

Next, ribbons are hung for the best of the whole breed, regardless of color or sex; brown for best, orange for 2nd best of breed.

Finally, ribbons are hung for best champion/premier; only one purple ribbon is given for the best champion/premier for each breed.

Note that the above is only a general description of the ribbon awards.
